Year Running: 2018/2019
Credit level: F6
Pre-requisites   MGT219 and MGT226

Description

Small enterprises employ large numbers of people in the world's economies and yet these enterprises often struggle with managing employment relationships. Mainstream HRM theory based on large firms is often ill-suited to these small enterprises and misunderstanding the issues associated with employment relationships could present barriers to enterprise success. This module considers small enterprises on their own terms rather than against an implied ideal of large firm approaches to employment relationships. This module provides students opportunities to discuss employment issues in the entrepreneurial process and scope for critical discussion of mainstream models of HRM and their application in small enterprises.
